POV: You Sent the Stoner a Kitchen Scale

Some brand partnerships arrive with an obvious content plan.

A kitchen scale arrived at my door while I was dressed as Wonder Woman,

it was our moment to make Wonder Woman Weed cookies…..

How I Made Cannabutter From Flower and Turned It Into Peanut Butter Cookies

Thank you Inevifit for sending the scale over!

A Brief Note About the Smell

Decarbing flower is not subtle. My entire apartment smelled like weed.

I live in Oakland, where this barely qualifies as an unusual household odor, but if you live somewhere where that would create problems with neighbors, roommates, landlords, or your building, plan accordingly.

Open windows and ventilation help. They do not make the process odorless.

The Actual Project

The goal was peanut butter cookies, and the scale ended up being genuinely useful

I used it throughout the process to weigh ingredients, check the butter, portion the dough consistently, and weigh a finished cookie at the end.

For the infused batch, I started with flower that had been gently heated in the oven before being infused into butter over low heat. That butter became the fat for a basic peanut butter cookie dough.

I made a regular batch too, because control group…. somehow the Cannabutter batch came out better but I think I added too much sugar to the regular batch and it was a bit too goey….

Where the Scale Actually Earned Its Counter Space

Portioning.

Cookie recipes love telling you to make “equal-sized balls,” as though humans possess factory-calibrated eyeballs.

We do not. We have vibes. A scale fixes that.

Equal portions bake more evenly, look better on camera, and make the finished tray considerably less chaotic. It also means you can reproduce the same portion size instead of discovering halfway through that one cookie belongs in a dollhouse and another could qualify as regional infrastructure.

One last look at the appliance that started this nonsense. So yes, the stoner can be trusted with a kitchen scale.

Technically.

Peanut Butter Cookie Base

  • 1 stick / 113 g butter

  • 1/2 cup peanut butter

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar

  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar

  • 1 egg

  • 1 tsp vanilla

  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1/2 tsp baking soda

  • 1/4 tsp salt

Cream the butter, peanut butter, and sugars together. Mix in the egg and vanilla.

Add the dry ingredients and mix just until combined.

Portion the dough evenly.

For the air fryer, I baked the cookies at 325°F for roughly 7–9 minutes, checking them at 7 minutes, then let them firm up as they cooled.

Important: Homemade cannabis infusions can vary substantially in potency. Clearly distinguish infused food from regular food and keep it securely away from children and pets.

Cannabutter Recipe

21 and over please

You need:

  • 7 g cannabis flower

  • 1 cup / 2 sticks (226 g) unsalted butter

  • 1 cup water

  • Baking sheet

  • Saucepan

  • Fine strainer or cheesecloth

  • Jar/container

1. Decarb the flower

Break the flower into coarse pieces. Don’t grind it into powder.

Spread it on a baking sheet.

Bake at 240°F / 115°C for about 30–40 minutes, stirring once or twice.

It should become dry and lightly toasted, not burned into botanical cremains.

2. Infuse the butter

Put 1 cup butter + 1 cup water into a saucepan and melt over very low heat.

Add the decarbed flower.

Keep it at a very gentle simmer for about 2–3 hours, stirring occasionally. Don’t let it vigorously boil.

The water helps keep the butter from scorching.

3. Strain

Pour through cheesecloth or a fine strainer into a container.

Let it drain rather than aggressively squeezing the plant material, which can make the butter more bitter and vegetal.

4. Chill

Refrigerate until completely solid.

The butter will form a solid layer on top. Lift it off and discard the water underneath.

Store the finished cannabutter refrigerated.
